I don’t go to the movies to watch scary movies. I like to watch them in the safety of my own home. My husband understands this. This is why I love watching HBO on cable tv. I just can’t go to the movie theater to see a horror flick.
The last horror movie I watched on HBO was Daybreakers, starring Ethan Hawke. What drew into this movie was the fact that it is about vampires and it stars Ethan Hawke, who I have been watching in movies since he played in Dead Poets Society. And I love vampire movies.
But Daybreakers is not your average vampire movie and that is what makes it interesting to me. Its basic premise is that vampires have taken over and their human blood supply is running low. Ethan Hawke plays a doctor and hematologist who is trying to create artificial blood until he meets another person who is developing a way to change vampires back to humans.
The movie is violent and gory, like most good vampire movies. It has some amazing stunts and visual effects that I wasn’t really expecting. But since it is a vampire sci-fi action movie, I probably shouldn’t have been too shocked. I really like the concept of this movie and I think it’s definitely going to be added to the collection.
Another reason we like HBO so much is that the best vampire series in on HBO and that is True Blood. We’re up to season three of the show and have been watching it from day one. The plot twists and characters are an amazing element to this show. Every Sunday, we make sure we don’t have any plans except to watch Sookie, Bill, and Eric on True Blood on HBO.
